Ivo Willems is an Executive for Fluor Corporation, one of the largest publicly traded Engineering and Construction companies in the world. In his role as Global Director for IT Research & Development and Knowledge Management, Ivo and his team focus on technologies and methods to improve collaboration on Fluor's engineering and construction projects. Ivo's background is in Computer Science, Systems Integration, Enterprise Master Planning and Plant Automation. One of his favorite quotes as it relates to his work : "When you automate a mess, you get an automated mess."
Over the years Ivo has been involved with automation efforts on various projects for both Fluor's clients as well as internal to Fluor. As such Ivo was able to gain a significant amount of know-how regarding work processes and business requirements. The increasing importance of data, and with that data about data, made it necessary for Fluor to start looking at semantic technologies.
